Get out of your mind and into your body.
Embodiment is the interaction between the mind, body, and external world.
This interaction is bidirectional. That is, cognitive and emotional processes present in the body as physiological tension, shifts in breath patterns, and even pain. When just “talking it out” doesn’t create the shifts we are looking for, bringing the body into the conversation can create a deeper sense of connection to our physiology, needs, and emotional messages.
About Paris...
-
Paris is an AHPRA registered Psychologist (Clinical Registrar), Yoga Teacher, Strength & Conditioning Coach, and Breathwork Facilitator. She founded embd with the intention of approaching health and wellbeing in a different way. Paris incorporates a unique systems-based approach to health, understanding that nothing in the body works independently. In other words, when there is an imbalance in one system, it has a ripple on effect onto all of the others.
Paris’ approach is to view health, wellbeing, and performance as the balance and optimisation of all of our key body systems. Two of these systems that are often the least trained are the respiratory and nervous systems - and as it turns out, these systems are integral in our psychological and physical wellbeing.
Paris has worked extensively with First Responder services and has a particular interest in supporting clients with creating a better relationship with their stress response, thereby optimising health & performance. She focuses on the mind-body connection, incorporating breathwork and other somatic practices into therapy, because often talking isn’t enough. She believes that simple strategies, performed with consistency and ownership, provide the ability to maintain balanced health and peak performance.
